A pedestrian walking in the subway Friday morning was struck by a Muni train. Service in the subway was shut down for several hours after the incident.

Muni Metro service was suspended Friday morning after a light-rail vehicle struck a pedestrian between two underground stations.

The pedestrian had been walking on the outbound tracks somewhere between the Embarcadero and Montgomery stations at the time of the 5 a.m. collision, police said.

The condition of the pedestrian was not immediately known.

Bus shuttles provided supplemental service until about 9 a.m., when regular light-rail service resumed, according to Muni spokeswoman Kristen Holland.
