A 3.6-magnitude earthquake centered in Berkeley shook the Bay Area this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was recorded at 5:36 a.m. 2 miles east of Berkeley with a depth of about 6 miles, according to the USGS.

The temblor was felt in Berkeley, Alameda and throughout San Francisco.

“It was kind of a strong jolt,” an employee at Au Coquelet Cafe Restaurant in downtown Berkeley said minutes after the quake.

Thursday morning's earthquake was the second in Northern California in two days at least the fourth in the past two weeks.
