A motorcycle crash blocked two lanes on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in San Francisco for more than half an hour during today’s morning commute, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Peter van Eckhardt said a Sig-alert was issued at 6:59 a.m. after the crash blocked lanes on the highway just before Fifth Street. The accident was reported at 6:33 a.m.
Van Eckhardt said the crash resulted in a traffic backup for motorists coming into the city across the Bay Bridge.
The lanes reopened at 7:09 a.m., but traffic remains heavy.
