One in custody after officer-involved Oakland shooting

Oakland police have one person in custody following an officer-involved shooting late Sunday night in which no injuries were reported, an Oakland police officer said.

Officers approached two people near the intersection of 38th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard around 11:45 p.m. and the pair started to run away, Officer Kevin McDonald said.

One suspect brandished a firearm, prompting a police officer to shoot, but no one was hit by the gunfire, McDonald said.

Police took one suspect into custody, and the other suspect remained at large this morning.
