Security camera footage of the BART police officer-involved shooting of transient Charles Hill will be released to the public today, the transit agency said in a statement.

The video will be released today at 3 p.m. at BART headquarters in Oakland, the agency said.

Hill was shot July 3 at the Civic Center BART Station in San Francisco by BART police officers after hearing reports about a “wobbly drunk.” Officers have said Hill was armed with two knives and a bottle and was acting in a threatening manner.

The shooting called into question the pace of reforms in the BART police system after the fatal shooting of Oscar Grant III on New Year’s Day 2009.

BART had been holding onto the video surveillance footage until all witnesses to the event had been interviewed. It is being released with the cooperation of the San Francisco Police Department and will be available to the public online at www.bart.gov/barttv as soon as possible some time today, BART said.
