Despite an ongoing investigation into the death of a 20-year-old San Bruno woman, it appears to be a suicide at this point, San Bruno police said Monday.
After San Bruno resident Leonie Scott was reported missing Saturday morning, an officer located her body in the area of Skyline Boulevard and College Drive around 8:25 a.m. Sunday, San Bruno police Cmdr. Noreen Hanlon said.
“We understand that she was upset for some reason,” Hanlon said. “At this point in time, we don’t suspect foul play. It’s a tragic situation.”
The missing-person alert, however, said Scott had a verbal argument with her boyfriend that prompted her to leave her family’s home on foot. San Francisco resident Kesha Cromartie, Scott’s boyfriend’s mother, said no argument took place.
Scott visited her boyfriend’s home Saturday, Cromartie said.
“All of a sudden within a couple of hours ... she was very upset,” Cromartie said. “We were trying to calm her down.”
Scott, who was a student at Skyline College with Cromartie’s daughter, was on pace to graduate by this summer, Cromartie said.
Scott’s friends could only describe the situation as “shocking.”
“She was just happy,” said Shannon Tucker, Scott’s friend of three years. “She was talking about going on a road trip for her 21st birthday. It’s a complete 180.”
