A Hayward man accused of pimping out his 20-year-old girlfriend on Craigslist was sentenced to a year in San Mateo County jail Monday.
Phoenix Fox, 26, pleaded no contest to two felony counts of attempted pimping in connection with his arrest on March 17, 2009. A San Bruno detective responded to the online sex advertisement and agreed to meet with Fox’s girlfriend on that date.
Cops stopped Fox’s vehicle en route to the motel where the deal was to go down. They not only arrested Fox and his girlfriend, but also a 17-year-old girl who was in the car, according to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
Fox’s girlfriend admitted to being a prostitute in order to help support Fox’s lifestyle.
Fox received 80 days credit for time already served on his year-long jail sentence. He also received three years probation.
