The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.6 struck this afternoon in Santa Clara County.
The quake shook an area in the foothills east of San Jose at 5:30 p.m. and had a depth of 3.9 miles, according to the USGS.
The tremor was centered about six miles east of Alum Rock and about 10 miles east of San Jose City Hall.
