San Bruno police are searching for a man who jumped out of a car and opened fire on a group of people Friday night not far from the Caltrain station.

Officers responded to the 500 block of Mastick Avenue at about 10 p.m. on a report of gunshots. One of the intended victims located by the officers told police that while he was walking on the sidewalk with friends they noticed a vehicle approach.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, got out of the car and opened fire on the group, then hopped back into the car and fled the area, police said.

The suspect is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. At the time of the attack he was wearing dark colored clothing and a black beanie. He fled in a dark colored Honda or Toyota sedan, police said.

Police are trying to determine if the shooting was gang related, and anyone with information is urged to contact the San Bruno Police Department at (650) 616-7100.
