Police seized about $300,000 worth of heroin in Oakland on Saturday -- the city's largest drug recovery in recent years, a police spokeswoman said.

Officers recovered about 200 ounces of heroin, 2 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, 1 ounce of cocaine, a firearm, and $8,800 at the home of 35-year-old Isaac Perez, Officer Holly Joshi said.

Joshi identified Perez as a "ringleader" of heroin trafficking operations from Mexico and said he has been the subject of an investigation headed by Officer Eric Karsseboom.

The arrest derails an intricate train of drug movement in the Bay Area, Joshi said. It is unclear whether more arrests will follow, but Joshi said police are happy with the takedown.

Police issued a search warrant at Perez's home at 1292 61st St. on Saturday.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin for sale, possession of cocaine and methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in a drug operation, police said.
