U.S. Highway 1 has been shut down in both directions tonight following a potentially fatal crash in Pescadero in unincorporated San Mateo County, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The coroner was en route at about 7:10 p.m. to the scene of the two-vehicle crash in response to one possible fatality, Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
The crash was reported at about 6:50 p.m. at Rossi Road.
According to early reports, two other vehicle occupants suffered major injuries and three suffered moderate injuries, Caggiano said.
A Sig-alert was issued at about 7:10 p.m., and it was unclear when Highway 1 would be reopened, he said.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
