A baby girl who appears to be the first baby born in the Bay Area in 2011 was delivered in Berkeley this morning, a labor and delivery nurse said.

The baby girl was born at 12:07 a.m. at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center's Alta Bates Campus, labor and delivery nurse Alice Wojcik said.

The baby girl's mother, Stephanie Hernandez, has not yet decided on a name for her, Wojcik said.
