Bay Area native Pegah Rashti was selected as one of 18 finalists to become the first-ever MTV TJ (Twitter jockey).
Why are you interested in Twitter and social networking? I love to write and share information with others, but I’m also constantly trying to learn. Twitter combines all these aspects and it really fits me and my interests.
Why did you enter the contest? MTV actually contacted me; I don’t know how they found me. At first I thought it was a joke that my friends were playing on me. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, and this just seems like it was meant to be.
What do you hope to gain from this experience? Overall, I hope to create a status for myself so that I can be a role model for teens. I have learned a lot from personal events and I want to be someone that others can relate to. I want to promote the importance of being yourself because really that’s the best thing you can do to get ahead in life.
What do you think sets you apart from the other finalists? I think my whole philosophy of wanting to impact others and always trying to see things positively. I am going to be myself and be humble on Twitter. Nothing crazy. I think that I bring a unique value to MTV, which is something different to what we’ve been seeing.
