A pretrial hearing is scheduled for today in Los Angeles that could determine whether John Burris, the attorney who represents Oscar Grant III’s family, could be called to testify in the murder trial of former BART police Officer Johannes Mehserle, who fatally shot Grant on New Year’s Day 2009. Jury selection is expected to begin Wednesday for the trial, which was moved from Alameda County to L.A. due to extensive publicity locally.
