Wife of officer who killed himself blames police

BURBANK, CALIF. — The wife of the Burbank police sergeant who committed suicide last week blames the police chief and other city officials for her husband's death.

Neil Thomas Gunn Sr. was one of a dozen current or former Burbank officers whose records were subpoenaed by a federal grand jury as part of an FBI investigation into excessive force in the department.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times posted online Tuesday, Tina Gunn said when police brass and the union failed to support her husband against the allegations, he was "brokenhearted."

Tina Gunn described her husband as a hard-working officer who cared deeply for the department.

Burbank City Attorney Dennis Barlow says he is concerned for the Gunn family and does not know what the investigations will find.
