LAS VEGAS — Nevada Test Site administrators have begun posting information, photos and videos on the Internet social sites Facebook and YouTube.

National Nuclear Security Administration spokesman Darwin Morgan says the federal Energy Department wants to streamline distribution of news and public information.

Recent updates include activities related to the permit application for a new mixed waste disposal cell at the national nuclear proving ground.

Another is about resources in a public reading room at the Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas.

From 1951 to 1992, the federal government conducted 100 atmospheric and 828 underground nuclear explosions at the area about 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas. A testing moratorium has been in place since 1992.
