LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police are searching for a man who impersonates an undercover officer, then robs victims at gunpoint.

Police say the suspect has approached several victims in the late morning and early afternoon hours in various communities in the city dressed as a plain clothes police officer. With a badge clipped to a gun belt, he identifies himself as a police officer and begins to search the victims to remove cash or wallets. The man has been seen wearing a dark polo-style shirt and blue jeans.

Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information about the crimes is urged to contact the LAPD.
