Lynndie England sues biographer over book deal

MORGANTOWN, W.VA. — Former Army reservist Lynndie England, who tells her side of the Abu Ghraib prisoner-abuse scandal in a new book, is suing her biographer over their business dealings.

She claims Gary Winkler seized control of what was intended to be a shared copyright by resigning from the West Virginia company set up to handle finances and forming his own Virginia-based publishing company.

Winkler denies any wrongdoing and says he welcomes a Sept. 23 hearing in Hampshire County Circuit Court.

He says the book isn't selling well, and England is mistaken if she thinks he's sitting on a pile of cash he's not sharing.

England's lawsuit also claims Winkler refused to provide access to online accounts that she could use to monitor book sales and revenues.
