Public transit use up

SAN FRANCISCO — Use of public transportation on the Golden Gate Transit bus and ferry system has been increasing.

Golden Gate Transit bus ridership has been growing steadily each month, from 566,587 in January to 635,246 in June — an increase of 12.1 percent.

Golden Gate Ferry ridership increased from 118,273 in January to 186,672 in June, or an increase of 57.8 percent.

At the same time, southbound vehicle traffic across the Golden Gate Bridge fell 1.78 percent from March to June.
