Presidio hospital to be transformed into apartments

Staff Report
December 3, 2008

The abandoned seven-story Presidio hospital, which has been such a graffiti magnet that a photographer has created an exhibit about the artwork, is finally being rehabilitated. On Friday, developer Forest City Enterprises will break ground on a project that aims to transform the historic Public Health Service Hospital into a 154-unit apartment building. The 70-year-old hospital, located near the 14th and 15th avenues entrances, is the largest historical building on Presidio grounds.

A waste- we need more hospital beds in this city but let's ignore that for a select few to have more expensive housing in the Presidio.
