Infin8 Sync to receive social entrepreneurship award

Melonie Green and her twin sister, Melorra Green, founded Infin8 Sync.

SAN FRANCISCO — After serving as co-executive producer of a film festival, Melonie Green, along with her twin, Melorra Green, founded Infin8 Sync, which will receive a social entrepreneurship award from Urban Solutions today.

What is Infin8 Sync? Working with festivals and attending workshops and panels led us to see a need for video and recording artists to be able to work together. So we founded a company that hosts events where artists can showcase their work and mingle and network.

What does the name mean? In production, “sync” means the perfect marriage of pictures and sound, and we’re bringing those two worlds together.

How do you bring those worlds together? Bring Your Own Artists events are what really got us started. We would go into a blank space, empty gallery or empty venue and have artists come in. We would have spoken word artists, dancers, DJs and folk acts. It’s a venue for all artists to come and be exposed.

Have you had any recent success stories? Some artists who were going on a tour needed someone to document and edit the material from the event. They were able to find a local editor.

Why did you found Independent Artists Week? We always heard that San Francisco was the mecca of independent art but we never saw anything officially stamped as such. We wrote a proclamation and submitted it to the Mayor’s Office which was signed, declaring the second week of September Independent Artists Week.
