SAN FRANCISCO — Metropolitan police in Washington D.C., are searching for a 24-year-old Howard University student from San Francisco who has been missing for two weeks.

James Duncan III was last seen at about 4 p.m. March 26 in the 2200 block of Sherman Avenue Northwest. in Washington D.C., and his grandmother reported him missing Friday, Metropolitan police Cmdr. George Kucik said Thursday.

Police have Duncan's Toyota Camry in their custody, but the contents of the car do not indicate anything criminal had been committed against him.

According to Howard University spokeswoman Kerry-Ann Hamilton, the relative who initially contacted university police said Duncan usually kept in touch and it was unusual that they had not heard from him in a few days.

Hamilton said Duncan's family has been in contact with university officials and they are providing assistance to investigators.

Duncan, a sophomore, is believed to be enrolled in the School of Nursing, Hamilton said.

He is described as a black male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 165 pounds with black hair that is cut in a low Afro. He has brown eyes and has dimples when he smiles, but may have grown a beard since he was last seen.

The case is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department as a Critical Missing Persons case, Hamilton said.

Howard University police are assisting in the search. Anyone with information regarding Duncan's whereabouts is encouraged to call the Police Department at (202) 727-9099.

I go to Howard, and im a sophmore, but i have never seen this kid, and we usually spot everyone at least once. No one is really pressed about him being missing, probably because everyone is thinking who would want to kiddnap a 24 year old black guy?!? Quite sad, hope hes found.

There are thousands of people at Howard University, so I am sure that some people go under the radar. People ARE pressed about him missing in California, and we are praying for his safe return. I hope that people at Howard start being more concerned. It seems as though he new plenty of people there (judging from his facebook account), so I hope someone can and will tell the police something they can use...
