SAN FRANCISCO, YERBA BUENA CENTER, DREAM HOUSE RAFFLE — Time is running out for anyone who wants a shot at turning $150 into a $2.4 million home or $1.8 million in cash.

Thursday is the last day to purchase tickets for a Yerba Buena Center for the Arts raffle that takes place July 25.

The exact location and address of the prize home remains a mystery, as does the identity of its donor. But raffle promoters have said it was built in 2008 and located in the Inner Sunset district, near Golden Gate Park.

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the arts center, a 23-year-old cultural and artistic haven that supports contemporary artists and art in the Bay Area and elsewhere. More than a quarter-million people attend the arts center’s exhibitions each year, and 2,200 visual, performing and media artists have had their work displayed or hosted since its incorporation in 1986.

As for the raffle, although the grand prize drawing will not take place for another week, the organization has not been shy about handing out other large prizes to early birds since tickets went on sale March 1; some $110,000 in cash prizes has already been won by ticket holders.

Anyone who wants to enter the raffle can call (888) 861-5678 or visit www.sfraffle.com and print a registration form. Forms can also be dropped off at YBCA Dream House Raffle, 701 Mission St., or faxed to (415) 324-8870.

If the chances of winning are equal, and assuming only main prize's value of $2.4MM, then the raffle ticket is overpriced! It should be ~$65 per ticket. OK, some of the difference pays for overhead costs.
