Apple’s Jobs wins approval to demolish mansion

Apple Inc. Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs won approval to tear down a California mansion after a state court judge overruled objections by preservationists who sought to save the Spanish Colonial Revival-style house, Woodside City Manager Susan George said.
“Barring a ruling by an appeals court, he is free to take the house down,” City Manager Susan George said today in a phone interview.
Howard Ellman, Jobs’s attorney, said in an e-mail “the ruling speaks for itself,” and declined to comment further.
Jobs’s plan to tear down the 17,250-square-foot Spanish Colonial Revival-style mansion, named the Jackling House after its original owner, copper magnate Daniel C. Jackling, is opposed by preservationists.
The case is Uphold Our Heritage v. Woodside, 444270, California Superior Court, San Mateo County (Redwood City).
