OAKLAND —
Former state Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata called on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to deny funding for a $522 million, 3.2-mile tram between BART’s Oakland Coliseum station and the Oakland International Airport.
Perata — who has announced that he’ll run for Oakland mayor next year — opposes the airport connector because of the cost. In 2004, he authored a ballot measure that funded the project, but Wednesday said the budget situation has "radically changed."
