Arrests made in fatal Bayview-Hunters Point shooting

May 31, 2009

At least two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 51-year-old San Francisco man Sunday morning.

The suspects have not yet been booked into jail and police are not yet releasing their names, San Francisco police Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said.

They are accused of gunning down Winston Coleman at 1:57 a.m. at Galvez Avenue and Third Street in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood.

Coleman was identified at the crime scene by his mother, Tomioka said. One suspect sped away in a vehicle, while another possible suspect was seen running away from the scene of the shooting.

Coleman is The City’s 18th homicide of 2009. Last year at this time, 44 people had been killed in San Francisco.
