How does Unlikely Heroes help youth caught in the sex trade? We focus on rescuing and restoring victims. We open restoration homes for children previously sold for sex in the U.S. and abroad. We opened a home in the Philippines and brought 10 girls we rescued from a brothel there in November.

How prevalent is child sex trafficking in the U.S.? In the U.S. there is a conservative estimate of 100,000 children being sold for sex every day. There are different factors in different cities that are contributing to the ways children are brought into this.

What policy initiatives do you think are necessary to address this issue in the U.S.? I think the overarching problem is in the U.S., we see the population as a group of delinquents, but really this is a victim population, where these girls are being lured into this and aren’t able to leave.
