Cherie Napier, the marketing manager for Serramonte Shopping Center in Daly City, is spearheading the fourth annual Bay’s Got Talent competition with tryouts starting Sunday. Of the 25 contestants, the top 10 will advance to the Dec. 11 finals, with the winner claiming a $1,000 gift card to the center. For more information, visit www.serramontecenter.com.

What is the general contestant age range for the show? Last year, we had an 8-year-old as the youngest, and the oldest we had was an 80-year-old man. So it was really a huge range of ages.

What is the most memorable performance you’ve seen?I would say one of the most memorable for me was this little girl who was very tiny. She was about 10, and she sang in three different languages. All of the sudden, she had this massive voice, and she was this teeny little skinny girl who belted out this voice. So it’s always interesting to see what people look like versus what their talent is. They surprise you a lot of times.

What is the goal behind the show? We know it’s important to connect with our customers because we’re a community center. We really want to support the performing arts in our community. It’s nice to give them a venue.
