Reag Wood, a 29-year-old Army sergeant and San Francisco native, and his wife, Suzanne, are competing for a dream beach wedding. The two eloped in September, but want to celebrate with friends and family at a formal ceremony. Voting is open through noon Oct. 31 at www.salutetolove.com.
What’s this competition all about? I saw an ad for it a few months ago in the Army Times. I was not engaged yet to Suzanne, but I thought it would be a good thing to do if we ever did get engaged. It’s a voting campaign, so the couple that gets the most votes is going to get a wedding worth $120,000 — up to 75 people, all expenses paid, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
What would winning this wedding mean to you? Suzanne is from Las Cruces, N.M., and I’m born and raised San Francisco. If our families have to travel, we would like them to travel to a place as beautiful as North Carolina.
How did you two meet? I met her at a bar in Las Cruces. She was out for the first time in a very long time because she has a 4-year-old daughter. I saw her — she’s gorgeous — I had to talk to her.
