Josh Klinger, the owner of San Mateo-based Caked, an online clothing company whose wares are based on the theme of baking and lifestyle, is including Caked T-shirts inside gift bags for the MTV Movie Awards. The bags will be handed out Saturday and Sunday to many celebrities at the Universal City Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood.

Where did Caked come from? I came up with the idea back in college and I launched the website cakedshop.com in March. I wanted to create something fun and unique, something in which customers could enjoy the whole experience. We ship the clothes in bakery cake boxes with baking instructions. It’s like you get a treat delivered to you, so it’s exciting.

Who wears your T-shirts? Many sports athletes are wearing them at the moment — John Baker, the catcher for the Florida Marlins MLB team, and Cameron Maybin of the San Diego Padres. They are high-quality T-shirts that are all limited-edition.

How do you feel with the T-shirts being featured in the talent gift bags? I’m really excited. I would love if a few celebrities wore them and got their photo taken in them.

What’s coming up for Caked? We’re in the process of getting them into some stores. That’s the next big thing.
