Nathalie d’Adelhart Toorop, the assistant to the Netherlands consul general, is helping to coordinate Dutch Queen’s Day in Union Square on April 30.

What can people expect to see and do on Queen’s Day? We are trying to get the feeling of Holland to Union Square. The color orange will be everywhere. There will be many things like family-oriented games, a beer garden, bike rides, a classical concert and live band, a commercial market with Dutch food like cheese and pastries, and a vrijmarkt, which is organized by and for children where they can sell old toys, etc.

What are the highlights? A guided bike tour from the Dutch Windmill in Golden Gate Park to Union Square and also a guided Dutch Design bicycle tour. For more information and to sign up for particular events, go to sfdutch.com.

Where else will we see the color orange? Orange Princess Irene tulip bulbs that were planted near the Dutch Windmill in the Queen Wilhemina tulip garden in Golden Gate Park will be brought to Union Square for the celebration. The Netherlands Consul General Bart van Bolhuis was accompanied by Recreation and Park Department board President Mark Buell in the ceremonial planting on Feb. 11.
