Even though eight days have passed since the election, no one is declaring victory in the District 7 Board of Supervisors race.
The latest vote tally released Tuesday by the Department of Elections shows school board President Norman Yee leading labor leader F.X. Crowley by a margin of 102 votes under The City’s ranked-choice voting system.
While vote counts showed Yee trailing Crowley last week, since Saturday he has remained on top, albeit with a fluctuating and slim margin of victory. The outcome will all come down to less than 1,000 ballots still left to count, including about 650 provisional ballots.
The department has counted 34,224 votes in the supervisorial race to represent the neighborhoods west of Twin Peaks, which are currently represented by termed-out Supervisor Sean Elsbernd. It is unclear when the ballot-counting will be done. The department has until Dec. 4 to certify the election.
