Assemblyman Tom Ammiano was re-elected to District 17.

As expected, two state lawmakers from the Bay Area were easily re-elected by voters Tuesday as another made the jump from the Assembly to the Senate.

State Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, easily triumphed against Republican challenger Harmeet K. Dhillon to capture the District 11 Senate seat, which covers The City and portions of San Mateo County.

Incumbent Assemblyman Tom Ammiano won his bid for District 17, easily besting Republican candidate Jason Clark for the San Francisco-based seat.

Assemblyman Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, won in his bid for the state Senate as well, defeating Sally Lieber, a former Democratic assemblywoman, to represent voters in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in District 13.

Each elected candidate will now represent new voters, as recent redistricting significantly altered jurisdictions for the state Senate and Assembly seats.
