The nearly record-breaking summerlike temperatures Monday and Tuesday seemed like a distant memory Thursday as Mother Nature unloaded pellets of rain on San Franciscans. Temperatures dropped and winds kicked up whilst rain fell from the sky.

Some folks appeared to be caught off guard as they darted from covered doorways holding up plastic trash bags and bundles of newspaper as protection from what ended up being only about 30 minutes of precipitation. The National Weather Service website indicates that showers are likely tonight, with the possibility of thunderstorms that may produce small hail. There's a 40 percent chance of rain Friday and 20 percent chance Saturday. It's expected to be clear by Sunday.
