If hypocrisy were money, Elizabeth Emken’s troubles would be over.

The GOP challenger to Sen. Dianne Feinstein boasts on her website that she has the cure for America’s financial woes: “The immediate answer is to reduce spending, now, today.”

Ah, yes. The problem with Washington is profligate spending and we should elect fiscally responsible adults to cut costs.

Well Emken’s campaign is $210,000 in debt and she’s being sued by the consulting firm Landslide Communications for failing to pay $65,000 for campaign mailers. Landslide’s attorney Bradley Hertz with The Sutton Law Firm, said the Emken campaign doesn’t dispute the validity of the bill, but has simply not come forward with a way to pay for the mailers.

Appropriately enough, Emken’s answer to the Landslide complaint is due on Election Day.
