President Barack Obama — who declared in a TV interview in May that he personally supports same-sex marriage — visits San Francisco Thursday for two fundraisers for his re-election campaign.

Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to greet Obama at San Francisco International Airport this morning. As mayor of San Francisco, Newsom spearheaded the effort to allow gays and lesbians to marry.

Obama is scheduled to hold fundraisers at two locations in the Financial District: the Julia Morgan Ballroom at California and Montgomery streets and at The Landmark at 1 Market St.

Tomorrow, the president will be in Los Angeles for the 2012 LGBT Leadership Gala.
