Wet weather in the Bay Area is delaying flights at San Francisco International Airport this morning, an airport duty manager said.

Low clouds and fog have resulted in low visibility and the implementation of a ground delay program that began at 8 a.m., the duty manager said.

Travelers are advised to check with their airlines before heading to the airport today because arriving flights are an average of 55 minutes behind schedule.

Departing flights are also affected, but the delays vary from airline to airline.

The ground delay program is expected to remain in effect through 7 p.m.

Mineta San Jose International Airport spokeswoman Vicki Day said a departing flight bound for Sacramento then Boise, Idaho, was delayed by an hour and a half, and a United Airlines flight arriving from Denver was about 20 minutes late.

Oakland International Airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes said there were no noteworthy delays in Oakland this morning.
