A paramedic and two others were transported to a hospital Tuesday following a nasty accident involving a San Francisco Fire Department ambulance that had been responding to an emergency call, a fire spokeswoman said.
The ambulance was struck at the intersection of Geary Boulevard and Spruce Street just before 8 a.m., Lt. Mindy Talmadge said Tuesday.
The ambulance was headed eastbound when it was broadsided by another car.
“They were really hit hard,” Talmadge said. “There was a huge indentation in the passenger side [of the ambulance].”
The female paramedic’s injuries were minor. She was transported to the hospital for evaluation, Talmadge said.
Two passengers in the vehicle that struck the ambulance were also brought to a hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.
The driver of the ambulance was not injured.
“The ambulance is being towed from the scene,” Talmadge said. “I’m sure the other vehicle will have to as well.”
