Expect highs in the lower 60s and lows in the mid-40s in The City this week.

Dry weather and cool temperatures sound familiar? After one of the driest Decembers on record in San Francisco, the first week of the new year will fare no differently, forecasters say.

“It’s going to stay dry for the whole week,” National Weather Service meteorologist Will Pi said.

Expect highs in the lower 60s and lows in the mid-40s in The City, slightly above the average for this time of year, but no rain, Pi said. Today and Wednesday may be the warmest days of the week.

Last month was the third-driest December on record for San Francisco, according to Pi. Projections over the next two to three months are for continued drier-than-normal weather.

The lack of rainfall could become serious if it continues into February, according to Pi.

“There’s still a chance it could change for the second half of the winter,” he said.
