An appeal of the America’s Cup environmental impact report was officially filed Monday, according to the Board of Supervisors Clerk’s Office.

Four groups actually brought the appeal Friday, the day after the Planning Commission certified the report, but the Clerk’s Office was unable to enter the appeal to the record because the Planning Department had not submitted official documentation of the commission’s decision.

The Clerk’s Office received that paperwork at 2:48 p.m. Monday and filed the appeal, legislative Deputy Director Rick Caldeira said.

The appeal is by four member groups of the Environmental Council: Telegraph Hill Dwellers, Golden Gate Audubon Society, San Francisco Tomorrow and Waterfront Watch.

Now that the appeal is filed, city agencies are prohibited from taking action on planning projects related to the America’s Cup until the board hears the appeal.

Caldeira said that hearing was not scheduled, but expected the board to take up the issue in January.
