Portions of Highway 1 will be closed this weekend due to construction on the ongoing project to rebuild Doyle Drive.
The aging southern approach to the Golden Gate Bridge is in the midst of being reconfigured into a new highway called the Presidio Parkway.
This weekend’s work will focus on replacing the Ruckman Bridge segment of Highway 1, just north of the MacArthur Tunnel. As a result, construction will shut down the ramp from northbound Highway 1 to northbound Highway 101 this weekend. The construction will start at 9:30 p.m. on Friday and last until 9 a.m. on Saturday. The closure will begin at Lake Street.
The construction closure is dependent on the weather. If there is rain, the construction will be pushed back to the next day.
The $1.01 billion plan to replace Doyle Drive is expected to be completed in 2015.
