An announcement by Apple about the iPhone is coming next week, but there is already one glaring detail: the unveiling is not being held in San Francisco.

For several years, Apple has used the Moscone Center or the Yerba Buena Gardens area in downtown San Francisco for its new-product announcements.

The announcements that were sent out Tuesday for the Oct. 4. iPhone-related event, however, says "let's talk iPhone" at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino.

Next weeks' event will be the first product unveiling for Apple since Steve Jobs resigned as CEO in August. The company's shares have since hit their highest level ever.

Former Vice President Al Gore, who sits on Apple's board, has said recently that he believes Apple's new iPhones will be here in October.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
