SF Giants World Series baby announced

Brooklynn Olivia Bird was born nine months – to the day – after the San Francisco Giants won the first World Series since the franchise moved from New York, making her the official World Series baby.

Brooklynn and her parents were announced Tuesday, hours before the Giants took on the San Diego Padres at home. As a result, the couple will receive a $2,010 gift certificate a commemorative brick at AT&T Park with her name, a birth certificate signed by the Giants and the title of “Comcast SportsNet 2010 Giants World Championship Baby.”

Her parents – Jennifer and Robert – welcomed her in to the world at 8:01 p.m. Aug. 1, seven minutes after the team won.

Brooklynn beat out more than 929 expectant mothers from 10 states including California, New York, Hawaii and even Rhode Island entered to have a shot at the title.

The Giants won the World Series at 7:54 p.m. Nov. 1, 2010 after beating the Texas Rangers 3-1 in the series. It was the first for the Giants since 1954, when the team was still in New York, they moved to San Francisco in the 1958 season.
