Popular Glen Park farmers market extends its season

Fans of San Francisco’s Glen Park farmers market are in luck — organizers have extended the neighborhood market’s season through November.

The farmers market, which debuted in the Glen Park BART parking lot May 15, was scheduled to end its season Oct. 16 but will now stay open through Nov. 20 because of its popularity, manager Nate Jordan said.

The market is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the intersection of Diamond and Bosworth streets, and sees about 1,200 customers a week, Jordan said.

Nearly 20 farmers from no more than 150 miles away sell certified organic produce and other items, while a handful of other vendors sell prepared foods.

The market came about after more than three years of work by the Glen Park Merchants Association, who partnered with the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association and BART to make the market a reality.
