A 40-year-old woman was shot in Potrero Hill on Thursday morning by a man she knows and who tried to rob her.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to her ankle in the 1000 block of Connecticut Street around 7:30 a.m., San Francisco police Officer Matt Balzarini said.
The suspect demanded cash from the woman, shot her, but stole nothing, Balzarini said.
With help from the victim, responding police arrested the suspected gunman in a housing projects apartment in the area. The victim warned cops not to arrest her husband, who was out hunting the shooter, police said.
Television crews filmed police hauling the suspect out of the Connecticut Street unit and taking him into custody. A cardboard sign posted on the apartment door read "Please Stop Knocking Period. Respest (sic) That! Call me."
The woman was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Neighbors in the area either said they did not hear or see the shooting or did not want to comment.
