The Arcade Fire, John Fogerty and the Decemberists were among the highlights of day three at the Outside Lands music festival, which generally was as successful and well-attended as days one and two.

John Fogerty played a crowd-pleasing assortment of songs from throughout his career, ending with the Creedence Clearwater Revival classics "Fortunate Son" and "Proud Mary."
The Decemberists played note-perfect renditions of songs from its more recent albums, most notably the Hazards of Love and the King is Dead.
Headliners the Arcade Fire took the stage for an appreciative Polo Grounds crowd of probably 40,000 right after the sun set and the lights began to backlight the eucalyptus trees. Playing a low-key set of songs from its entire catalog, the Montreal-based band promoted a Haitian relief organization shortly after playing the song "Haiti" from the album Funeral. Singer Win Butler seemed happy to be in San Francisco, cracking a joke about how the high condo prices are all that keeps him from moving here.

And then the band displayed the rising moon on the big screens, and the energy level changed entirely, with singles "Month of May" and "Rebellion (Lies)" ushering in a wave of frenzied crowd favorites.
