It may be August, but it’s not quite summer in San Francisco.
City dwellers had bits of sun and blue sky throughout July, but temperatures and wind have remained mild. The first weekend in August will be no different.
Fog and a small chance of drizzling rain are expected all weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will hover around 70 degrees today, Saturday and Sunday.
And although much of the rest of the country is experiencing extreme heat, coastal areas will be the hardest places in which to find blue sky, meteorologist Austin Cross said.
"I think this is better than 110 degrees," he said.
By Monday, skies will finally clear in The City to show some blue skies, Cross said. And temperatures in San Francisco will reach 71 by the start of the workweek.
The lack of any weather patterns moving through the Bay Area is what is keeping the fog around The City, Cross said.
"It’s a pretty quiet weather pattern," he said. "There is no strong mechanism to get rid of it and we have persistent breezes bring the fog in."
The wind gusts could take your hat away. San Francisco will see winds reach up to 26 mph throughout the weekend, according to the weather service.
