San Francisco-based BackType, a service that allows people to track the impact of their social media usage, has been acquired by Twitter, according to a post on the company’s website.

Twitter, which is also based in San Francisco, has recently made other acquisitions, including buying Tweetdeck, an application that allows people to manage multiple Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Twitter is moving to a new location in San Francisco’s mid-Market neighborhood, but it also recently has had rocky transitions with its management

BackType announced that it will continue its BackTweets service for current users, but that it will not allow any more sign-ups as it begins its work with Twitter. The company will also “discontinue the BackType product and API services.”

The company will also be moving to the Twitter headquarters.
