The tradition of hanging the photos of The City’s police chiefs and mayors started 40 years ago when the owner of John’s Grill hung photographs of legendary police Chief Thomas Cahill and former Mayor George Christopher on his wall of famous patrons, organizers said.

Suhr was joined Friday morning for the traditional picture hanging ceremony by former police Chief Tony Ribera, former Mayor Frank Jordan, as well as current command staff and police captains.

The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. at the restaurant at 63 Ellis St.
