The San Francisco 49ers’ Vernon Davis will be presenting an art scholarship to a high school student at a museum gala Friday night.

Davis, a Pro Bowl tight end, will be presenting the Davis Visual Arts Scholarship to Lowell High School student Sheryl Quock at a San Francisco Unified School District gala held at the de Young Museum, according to San Francisco Arts Commission officials.

“When I saw her work, it inspired me as a fellow artist,” Davis said in a statement. “Sheryl is a budding fashion designer and I’m a huge fashion fan myself, so who knows, maybe one day we’ll collaborate on a clothing line together.”

The “Young at Art” gala is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

Before the gala, at 3 p.m., Davis is expected to join local artist Cameron Moberg and young artists from the Tenderloin neighborhood’s Boys & Girls Club to work on a mural.

“I grew up in a tough urban community of Washington, D.C., where I always had a strong interest in art, but never felt comfortable pursuing it,” Davis said in a statement.

“I discovered art in college, but I want kids to feel free to explore it now if they’re interested, without any constraints,” he said.
